Louis Vuitton x Carlos Alcaraz
A Grand Slam of Style in a Trunk
written Abraham Cruzado
Paris, the city of lights, fashion, and now, an iconic fusion of sports and luxury. In a move that blurs the lines between athletic prowess and high-end fashion, Louis Vuitton has teamed up with Carlos Alcaraz, the powerhouse behind the 2022 US Open and 2023 Wimbledon victories, to craft a piece that's more than just a trunk – it's a treasure chest of memories and style.
This is a bespoke Malle Vestiaire, personalized to house Alcaraz's precious memorabilia and equipment. Drawing upon Louis Vuitton’s rich 170-year legacy in trunk-making, this masterpiece has been brought to life by seasoned artisans and is about crafting a legacy, one where grand slams meet grand style.
Envision a trunk, its skeleton made of carefully selected wood, swathed in the classic Monogram canvas, a hallmark of Louis Vuitton's heritage. But here's the twist – it's adorned with a unique logo inspired by Alcaraz's glittering career, each stroke of the hand-painted exterior narrating a story of triumph and passion.
The inside of the trunk is as luxurious as its exterior, featuring five microfiber-lined drawers, each with a tactile natural cowhide handle, and a central drawer, a nod to the historic Secrétaire Linge trunks. It a walk down memory lane with compartments holding the very Nike shirt and shoes Alcaraz donned during his Wimbledon win, not to mention one of his trusty Babolat rackets.
But the Alcaraz-Louis Vuitton saga doesn't end here. The trunk is a cornucopia of the tennis star’s personal LV favorites – think a chic blue Louis Vuitton Speedy P9 Bag, a gift from none other than Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams, and those covetable LV x Nike AF1s. Sprinkled within are Louis Vuitton accessories: tennis balls, Horizon Light Up earphones, a portable LV Nanogram speaker, a Dopp Kit toiletry bag, and a Nice Mini vanity case. This trunk is a mini-universe, a blend of sport, music, and luxury travel, with Louis Vuitton City Guides for New York and London as cherries on top.
In Alcaraz's words, this collaboration with Louis Vuitton's artisans is a “great experience and a privilege.” The trunk isn't just a container; it's a capsule of his greatest moments and a showcase of his style.
The Malle Vestiaire will be available for personalization in the iconic Monogram canvas with a beige microfiber interior.
